On August 16 and 17, during Riga Festival, public transport and parking services will be free of charge
On August 16 and 17, Riga residents and guests will be able to use public transport (buses, trolleybuses and trams) free of charge, except for minibuses, night buses and the Retro-tram. The services of pay parking-lots operated by "Rīgas satiksme" will be also available for free on August 16 and 17, with the exception of the parking-lot located near the House of Congresses, where parking will be for pay.
Given the extensive programme of the city festival offered to Riga residents and guests, the public transport traffic will be adjusted to the location of festive events, larger vehicles will be launched and additional runs will be provided on some routes according to passenger flow.
On August 16 and 17, due to festive events, buses on route No. 40 going to Ziepniekkalns will stop at the „Lucavsala” stop to let passengers get on and off.
In the night of August 16/17 public transport on some routes will run until 01:00. Extra runs will be provided on routes with the highest passenger flow. There will be extra runs on bus routes No. 3, 11, 12/23/26 (combined route running across Akmens Bridge – see the route’s map), 18, 24, 25, 37, 40, 50, 51 and 53, on trolleybus routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27, and tram routes no. 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11.
On August 16 special bus route „Daugavgrīvas Street – „Spilve” airport will be provided from 10:00 till 20:00 due to the festive events to be organised in „Spilve” airport.
On August 16 and 17, due to festive events in Mežaparks and Riga Zoo, trams on route No. 11 will run from 12:00 till 17:00 more intensively, with shorter intervals, according to a temporary schedule.
Minibuses will run on August 16 and 17 according to holiday schedules, but night buses will be available in the nights of August 15/16 and August 16/17. It should be reminded that fare is to be paid in minibuses and night buses.
